President & CEO
Shawn Leslie, BA, CLU
Shawn Leslie has over 40 years of experience in the employee benefits Industry, working initially with a major group insurance and group retirement plan provider for 12 years (final position was Senior Employee Benefits Manager). Mr. Leslie worked in western Canada prior to moving to Toronto in 1982 and has held many senior positions in the employee benefit field with the last 30 years as President and CEO of The Leslie Group Limited whose primary focus is on the implementation and management of group insurance and group retirement plans.
Mr. Leslie founded The Leslie Group Limited in 1992 with an objective of increasing value for Canadian corporations in the employee benefits area. He has a B.A. from the University of Manitoba and a CLU. Mr. Leslie was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medallion in 2012.
The Leslie Group commenced operations on May 1, 1992; and has grown steadily to its current size assisting over 800 corporations with their employee benefits plans focusing on offering value to our clients.
Vice President, Consulting
Mr. Campbell has served as Vice President Consulting with The Leslie Group since June 2000 and with a focus on group insurance and group retirement plans. He has over 39 years of industry experience and held many senior sales and marketing positions with two major group insurance and group retirement plan providers for 18 years (final position was Vice President, Canadian Group & Retirement Sales). Mr. Campbell has also worked in Western Canada.
Mr. Campbell has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Administration) from Laurentian University and a CLU designation.
Vice President, Finance and Operations
Mr. Goodale joined The Leslie Group in February of 2015 where he left the Stock Transfer Industry. He has over 12 years of experience in the Finance and Accounting industry along with 5 years in the Group Benefits industry. Mr. Goodale was appointed as Compliance Officer of The Leslie Group in 2015 and handles many other roles at The Leslie Group such as Human Resources and IT Management.
Mr. Goodale has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Ryerson University and an Advanced Diploma (Accounting) from George Brown College.
Group Benefits Team:
Vice President, Group Benefits
Ms. Toor has over 18 years of progressive experience in Group Benefits working with a major insurance carrier for 4 years and the last 14 years in a consulting capacity. Her experience with an insurer was predominantly in the areas of marketing, underwriting, and client management. In a consulting capacity, Ms. Toor has used her knowledge of the inner workings of the insurance carrier’s processes in order to negotiate and make recommendations in the best interest of The Leslie Group clients and with a focus on group insurance and group retirement plans.
Ms. Toor has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from the Wilfrid Laurier University and has earned her Group Benefits Associate designation certifying her as a group benefits professional.
Vice President, Group Benefits
Mr. Bedard has over 16 years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined The Leslie Group in early 2012 as an employee benefits consultant. In 2018, Mr. Bedard’s role expanded into management, which included mentoring and supporting a team of Employee Benefit Specialists. Currently, Mr. Bedard oversees several operational functions at The Leslie group, manages a block of key clients, as well as a team of Directors, Consultants and Employee Benefits Specialists.
Mr. Bedard is an MBA graduate from The University of Liverpool and is bilingual (fluent in French).
Ms. Zufelt has over 30 years of progressive experience working in group benefits, over 20 years of which have been in a consulting capacity. Her experience with an insurer in the areas of service / claims management and in the underwriting of benefits plans, coupled with her one on one work as an advocate for employers, has helped her to understand the unique requirements of each client as well as the nuances of negotiating the benefits system to maximize the outcome for clients.
Her focus is solely in providing consulting services to a small group of larger clients and not in client acquisition. This affords her the time to be proactive in analyzing plan data and making recommendations around plan design and funding, participating in union negotiations where required, quarterly plan reviews, communication of legislative updates and any other value added services that are appropriate for a given client.
She has an Honours B.A. in French and Biology from the University of Toronto.
Mr. Goodale has a wealth of experience in the group benefits industry specializing in client management, sales and marketing as well as underwriting for small to mid-sized companies. Working in progressive roles for two major insurance carriers for 6 years and as a consultant with The Leslie Group for over 17 years, Mr. Goodale possesses the knowledge and skill set to effectively manage benefit plans for clients of The Leslie Group as well as negotiate with the group benefits providers to achieve the client’s requirements. With a strong customer focused approach to group benefits, Mr. Goodale’s passion is to provide first-rate consulting services with sound advice and comprehensive recommendations to enhance the value clients receive.
Director of Group Benefits, Western Canada
Allison Cairns has over 20 years’ experience in the Group Benefits industry, having worked with three different insurance companies during that time in the roles of Account Executive and Group Marketing Manager. Prior to joining the team at The Leslie Group she spent 5 years as a consultant helping companies design, price, implement, and maintain employee benefits programs. Her areas of expertise include disability, health and dental plan design, drug cost containment strategies, pricing analytics, and renewal negotiation with the insurance companies. She strives to obtain a deep understanding of client’s needs and challenges so she can help them deliver clear, innovative, high impact solutions for their employees that are cost effective.
Allison has her CHU designation (Certified Health Underwriter), LLQP certification and is working towards her GBA designation (Group Benefit Associate), all of which help to differentiate her as a group benefits specialist.
Director of Group Benefits, South Western Ontario
With more then 25 years in the employee benefits and financial service industry, Will brings to our clients experience from his past Group Benefits roles including Product Marketing Manager, Account Executive, Underwriting, Benefit Consulting and Multi-employer knowledge.
Will holds a Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation and is a member of the Trillium Grants Review Committee for Waterloo, Wellington and Dufferin Counties. Will has a deep understanding of effective benefits plan design and driving value for clients.
Senior Employee Benefits Consultant
Mr. Galt brings 30 years of experience in the group benefits industry while working with a number of major insurance carriers in the areas of marketing and client management. Over his career, he has worked closely with The Leslie Group for over 20 years, supporting clients of all sizes in hi roles with the insurance carriers. Prior to joining the team at The Leslie Group, he also spent time as a consultant helping companies in all aspects of their employee benefits programs, well positioning him to meet and exceed expectations.
Employee Benefits Consultant
Ms. McGee has over 6 years of experience in the group benefit industry and joined The Leslie Group in February of 2021. Ms. McGee’s most recent experience was as a Group Benefits Specialist and Benefits Analyst with a consulting firm and benefits trust and has experience with group benefit clients ranging from 3 to over 2,000 members.
Ms. McGee has a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Globalization and Global Development from Western University.
Employee Benefits Consultant
Mr. Dearlove has over 15 years experience in Human Resources and employee benefits. Randy has worked both as a plan sponsor for a national not for profit organization and an Account Executive for an insurance carrier. As a plan sponsor, Mr. Dearlove worked with carriers and consultants to identify and implement solutions that were key to supporting employee well being and to support his organization’s retention strategy. He was an early adopter of mental health initiatives in the workplace and introduced a myriad of programs aimed to assist employees well being. As an Account Executive, Mr. Dearlove worked with both brokers and clients to put in place benefit programs while networking with various departments within the carrier.
Mr. Dearlove has an Honours Bachelor in Psychology from York University and is a licensed insurance advisor.
Senior Employee Benefits Specialist
After spending four years in the food service industry, one year interning in both the Canadian and English art and education industry and working as an Administrative Assistant in between school years at The Leslie Group, Ms. Leslie joined The Leslie Group team full-time in October of 2017 as a marketing coordinator. Jordan’s current role is an Employee Benefits Specialist, focusing on clients’ day-to-day service requirements, competitive marketing reviews, annual renewals and plan design revisions.
Jordan is also fluent in three languages: English, Spanish and French.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Hispanic Studies from Western University, and a Masters in the History of Science, Medicine and Technology from Oxford University.
Senior Employee Benefits Specialist
Ms. Phillips has several years of experience in the group benefits industry and joined The Leslie Group in October 2018 as an Employee Benefits Specialist. Her experience in a consulting capacity is predominantly in the areas of marketing, negotiation and client management for small to mid-sized companies. Her primary focus is on providing unbiased and comprehensive recommendations to clients customized to their individual needs. In her role as an Employee Benefits Specialist, Ms. Phillips’ knowledge and skill allow her to enhance the value received by The Leslie Group clients.
Ms. Phillips has an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and has earned a Group Benefits Associate designation certifying her as a group benefits professional.

Tabitha Rae Davis
Miss Davis has over 3 years experience with a speciality provider in the employee benefits industry and joined The Leslie Group in April of 2022 as an Employee Benefit Specialist. As part of her role, she works in the areas of marketing, negotiation, and client management. Her motivation and love for working with clients allows for her to excel in areas of customer service for The Leslie Group clients.
Miss Davis is working towards industry designations included her LLQP and CEBS Certification.
Group Retirement Team:
Vice President, Group Retirement
Mr. Hopkins has over 10 years of experience in the group retirement industry and joined The Leslie Group in November of 2015. Mr. Hopkins has experience working with companies ranging from 10 to over 100,000 members.
Mr. Hopkins has overall responsibility for group retirement clients with The Leslie Group and works closely with team members to design and customize group retirement plans that meet the needs of clients in an ever changing landscape.
Mr. Hopkins has an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and a Life License in Ontario.
Senior Group Retirement Consultant
Mr. Jebb has over 10 years of experience in the group retirement industry and joined The Leslie Group in February of 2017 as a Group Retirement Consultant. Mr. Jebb possesses the knowledge and skill set to effectively management retirement plans for clients. In his role as a consultant, he uses his knowledge of the industry and insurance carrier models to manage a block of key clients. As well, he oversees the marketing and reporting processes in order to negotiate and make comprehensive recommendations that are in the best interest of The Leslie Group clients.
Mr. Jebb has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Maine.
Group Retirement Consultant
Ms. Warden joined The Leslie Group team with over 10 years experience in the group retirement industry coupled with extensive experience in client relations. Ms. Warden’s experience in the group retirement industry ranges from plan design and Implementation to full plan administration and consulting of retirement plans ranging in size from 50-100,000.
Ms. Warden successfully obtained the CEBS designation in 2015 and continues to be a Fellow of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist.
Ms. Reilly joined The Leslie Group in June of 2017 Client Service Representative within the group retirement team. Ms. Reilly has a strong background in client servicing with 10 years of experience in group retirement.
As an Account Manager, Ms. Reilly acts as the liaison between your plan administrator and the benefits carriers. In this capacity, she will assist with coordinating employee education, administrative inquiries, and amendments as required. Her goal is to understand your needs, show value, and exceed expectations.
Director of Education & Communication
Huzefa has over fifteen years of experience in group retirement, beginning his career with a global consulting firm in the UK. Huzefa joined The Leslie Group in 2019. He designs communication and education to make group retirement plans impactful and simpler to manage for members. Quality member experience ensures members value the program as part of their total rewards.
Before joining The Leslie Group, Huzefa was with a major group retirement carrier in Canada as a senior education consultant developing content and delivering sessions to thousands of group members each year.
He holds a Life License in Ontario and an International Management degree from the University of Manchester.

Client Service team:
Director of Client Services
Ms. Guarraci has been employed with The Leslie Group for 18 years and has over 28 years of experience in the group insurance industry and prior, an additional 4 years working in the Dental field where she worked as a Dental assistant. Having worked with 3 major insurance carriers in the claims payment department and as a Team Leader in the call centre, coupled with the hands on experience in the Dental field has allowed her understand the needs of clients and to seek proactive solutions in a time effective manner.
Ms. Guarraci is a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly organized member of our team. She is responsible for the management, training and development of our entire client service team and is personally assigned to oversee our larger clients, with a senior account manager assigned to assist in day to day activities.
In her director of client services role, she acts as the liaison between your human resources department and the benefits carriers. In this capacity, she will assist in the resolution of any claims and administrative concerns, assist in the management of disability claims and effectively educate both parties on the particular needs of the other. Ms. Guarraci’s top priority is to have great relationships with all clients and provide excellent service by understanding their needs.
Client Service Representative
Brittney joined The Leslie Group team as a Client Service Representative in November 2021 and has over 2 years of experience in the group benefits industry. Prior to joining The Leslie Group, Brittney worked as a Client Service Representative for a major Canadian Insurance carrier, responsible for client and advisor inquiries.
Brittney specializes in developing strong, long-lasting relationships with clients and excels in analytical thinking, approaching every challenge with her best foot forward to ensure the client has their needs met and receives the best possible service.
Senior Account Manager
Ms. Ho joined The Leslie Group in 2007 after working in a major insurance company for 10 years. She has over 30 years of customer service experience in various industries. This helps built her sensitivity to the needs of customers, and maintain a proactive approach in meeting and exceeding their expectations.
In her role as Senior Account Manager, she works closely with your human resources staff to ensure a positive experience in their day-to-day group benefits administration. This is achieved through benefits administration training for your staff, ongoing communication on benefits administration protocols, and reviewing any ad hoc situations that arise. She also coordinates with insurance carriers in the timely resolution of any claims or services issues.
Ms. Ho has an Honours B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from the University of Hong Kong.
Senior Account Manager
Ms. Hintzen has over 25 years of experience in the group insurance industry and has worked with two major insurance carriers predominately in a group insurance sales office environment prior to her current role with The Leslie Group for the past 18 years. Ms. Hintzen’s role as a Senior Account Manager assists the needs of diverse clients from corporate to national sized clients. Ms. Hintzen is a highly motivated and energetic member of our team and thrives on service excellence understanding the needs of clients.
In Ms. Hintzen’s Senior Account Manager role, she acts as a liaison between your human resources department and the benefits carriers. She has experience with project related implementations such as flex re-enrolments incorporating mass employee meetings, acquisition of companies transitioning new benefit program, primary contact support for American headquarter based clients to assist with their Canadian divisions in addition to this capacity, she will assist in the day to day resolution of administrative and claims concerns.
Ms. Dahari has over 26 years experience in the group insurance industry having worked with major insurance carriers predominantly in group administration and most recently on the employer side as Human Resources Coordinator administering the group and pension benefits. She completed her Group Benefits Associate designation in 2004. Gem is committed to understanding our clients’ needs and providing excellent customer service.

Account Manager / Employee Benefits Specialist
Melissa joined The Leslie Group team as an Account Manager in October 2021 and has over 3 years of experience working in the group benefits industry. Prior to joining The Leslie Group Melissa worked as a service representative for a major Canadian insurance carrier, where she was responsible for any client and advisor needs. Melissa specializes in developing strong lasting relationships by proactively approaching daily challenges, and looking at client needs through various lenses to ensure the best quality care and service.
In Melissa’s service representative role, she will act as the liaison between your human resource department and the benefit carriers. She will assist in administrative concerns, claims resolutions, and coordinate contracts, amendments, and employee booklet as required. Melissa’s sole focus at The Leslie Group is to provide clients with strong lasting relationships, and providing timely solutions to support anything the client needs.
She holds an Honors degree in Allied Health Science’s from Ontario Tech University, as well as diplomas in both Occupational therapy/Physiotherapy assistant and Fitness and health promotion.
Senior Account Manager
Ms. Edmunds has over 25 years of work experience in the group insurance industry, with her last 22 years working with The Leslie Group. Since her time at the Leslie Group, Ms. Edmunds has gained experience in the Marketing Coordinator department and for the past 10 years has been a dedicated member of the Client Service team.
Prior to joining The Leslie Group, she worked with a major insurance carrier in the claims payment department as a claims examiner and later in the call centre. This experience has allowed her understand the needs of clients and to seek proactive solutions in a time effective manner.
As a Senior Account Manager, Ms. Edmunds acts as the liaison between your human resources department and the benefits carriers. In this capacity, she will assist in the resolution of claims and administrative concerns, and effectively educate both parties on the particular needs of the other. She will also coordinate employee booklets and contracts amendments as required. Her sole focus with The Leslie Group is to consistently provide clients with proactive industry leading customer service, and timely, accurate solutions to their daily inquiries.
Teressa joined The Leslie Group team as an Account Manager in April 2022 and has over 4 years of experience in group insurance. Previously, she worked for two major carriers as a Senior Service Specialist and was responsible for fostering and maintaining client and advisor relationships. Teressa specializes in understanding clients wants and needs and takes action to meet and exceed them through actively finding solutions.
As an Account Manager, Teressa acts as the liaison between your plan administrator and benefits carriers. In this capacity, she will assist with administrative inquiries, claims resolutions, coordinate contracts and amendments as required. She takes client journey and experience as top of mind everyday, and her sole purpose is to develop strong, long-lasting relationships by providing excellent service and support.
Manager, Benefits Analyst
Kristi Wallace joined The Leslie Group November 23, 2020 as a Senior Benefits Analyst. She has over 22 years experience working with a global provider in the group benefits industry. During this time, she has held various roles in underwriting, sales, and consulting. Bringing this combination of expertise to The Leslie Group, she will be able to use this knowledge to focus on retention and growth to help deliver solutions by providing expert advice that will meet the various and changing needs to clients.
Senior Benefits Analyst
Ms. Blondin has over 32 years of progressive experience in group benefits working with a large insurance carrier and for the last 20 years in her current role at The Leslie Group. Her experience with an insurer was in the underwriting of benefits plans.
As part of her role, she works predominantly in the areas of marketing, renewals, plan design review, claims experience reporting, as well as assisting consultants with client management.
She has an Honours B.A. in Economics and Geography from the University of Toronto.
Mr. Burrows joined The Leslie Group team in 2017 as a consistent and dependable addition to the firm. As a Benefits Analyst, he is responsible for areas in Marketing such as renewals, plan design review, claims experience reporting and liaising with Insurance Carriers.
Prior to working in the Insurance industry, Mr. Burrows worked in the Food and Beverage industry as a Head Runner, Bartender and Server at multiple locations in Canada and The Bahamas where he learned to organize tasks based on priority in addition to managing a team of co-workers to better optimize work flow. These skills have helped him develop a healthy work ethic that keeps him focused and adaptive to ever shifting needs of employers.
Mr. Burrows attended Western University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology and graduated with Honours.
Jack Leslie joined The Leslie Group six years ago, first as a part-time employee during university and a full-time employee after graduation. Jack is a Benefits Analyst and Marketing Coordinator, responsible for supporting client renewals, plan design and claims experiences. Jack also assists with insurance carrier-facing communication and marketing efforts.
Jack holds a B.A. in Psychology from Western University and a Diploma in Business Marketing from George Brown College, from which he graduated with Honours. Jack is currently working towards his CEBS designation.
Jack looks forward to continuing to grow his role at The Leslie Group, leveraging his education and experience to meet client’s changing needs.
Ms. Forde joined The Leslie Group in April of 2021 as an Administrative Assistant. Her role within The Leslie Group is to provide support and aide to her fellow employees with tasks such as routine clerical work, scheduling meetings with clients and preparing claims experience reports. Driven by her knowledge in customer care, Ms. Forde takes pride in providing colleagues with accurate and up-to-date administrative work to assist in the day-to-day operation of The Leslie Group.
Ms. Forde holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Brock University.
